Need a new muffler for my 2.5L Cherokee. Have an old dynomax turbo right now (wife complains that I wake up the kids every morning when I start it up). Would like to keep a high flow muffler but also be as quiet as possible. Any recommendations?

Flowmaster hushpower. I think they've actually dropped the Hushpower name now and just call it the HP2. Smooth and mellow but not loud.

x2

This video is of my old TJ running with a 4.0L running one. Very compact and sound good without droning.

Is that Dynomax Turbo you speak of the Dynomax Super Turbo? That's the quietest muffler Dynomax makes and is generally considered to be one of if not the quietest aftermarket muffler available from the typical mainstream companies. I don't think you'll do much better without using a stock muffler.

I'm running the Super Turbo and hate how loud it is, but have accepted that it's the best I can do (I want stock noise level, but that just doesn't happen in a 9" x 14" aftermarket muffler that I need in my relocated position).

I had a Dynomax super turbo previously but destroyed it on the rocks. I tried a FlowTech Raptor this time and I like it just as much, maybe a little bit more. The Raptor doesn't seem to drone as much as the Dynomax at mid range RPMs and the sound level is just right on a 4.0L.

Yes I am running the Super Turbo. For the most part I've been pretty happy with it, does have a drone at highway speeds that's slightly annoying. My tailpipe rusted through, I'm sure the muffler, which was installed at the same time, isn't too far from falling apart either. Mostly my wife is annoyed at how loud my Jeep is compared to her Honda CRV... and blames me for waking up the kids every morning at 6:00. They need to be up by then anyways so I feel I'm doing her a service... Mostly I'm going through the motions to tell her I tried to find something quieter... But if there is something better I'll try that instead.

We've been using these, and they are a great choice.
