Made the jump and bought a ProTools 105 bender with stand.
Need to purchase my first die for it. I have a project that I am using 1 ¼ 120 wall dom tube for tube fenders.
I will be using this to make bumpers, cages, maybe a tube chassis, ya know jeep wheeler stuff for my self in the future.
Looking at the dies I am going to go with the 180 degree, 1 ¼ OD die but not sure which CLR to go with?
The options are 4, 4 ½, 5 and 6. With the general use I am going to use it for can anyone make a recommendation on CLR?
Looking through the net it looks like 4 might be a favorite? Don't think I will need to make any real wide sweeping bends?
Thank you ahead of time for any feedback, BRAND NEW to tube bending.

- CLR: stands for Center Line Radius, meaning the bend radius as measured from the apex of the bend to the middle of the tubing.

In my experience, get the tightest one you can work with the material. I believe we use the one Kevin has, and it's a 4.5.

My 1.25" die is 3.5" clr, and it's too tight for making bends on light gauge tube (.065 anyways)

In general, I think the SCCA rule of no tighter than 3x tube diameter is good. 4.5" for 1.5" tube looks good. My 1.75" die is 6.5" clr, and it's not tight enough. 5.5" would be better.

x3, I believe my CLR is 6" or 6.5" on my ProTools die in my JMR Sportsman bender. I like the larger radii though for strength purposes. It will hold the profile of the tube better than a smaller radii.
