UPDATE: Edit 9/2/15. Naches RD trail closure is on HOLD. Everything will be open. No change in plans required.

So, I confirmed this morning that the entire Naches Ranger District is closing due to fire danger as of TOMORROW 9/2/15. This leaves us with a discussion that needs to happen on what we want to do for our group camping trip.

Trails are closed, but camping is still an option at Naches. So, discuss.

Still camp at Naches? Should be good weather to sit around and have drinks around a non-burning rock pit but no wheeling.

Walker Valley? Awaiting an answer on whether or not we could get into large gravel pit and camp as a group.

Evans Creek? Smaller and close and still some wheeling.

Moses Lake? Wide open sand dune ORV area, always a good time.

Feel free to post up what you think or give any other ideas.

John

Crappy, I may just go to the Five Finger Death Punch concert in Everett. Anyone want to join me?

I think Walker would be cool. I've only done one run there and it was in the snow and only a few trails..

The Main road at Evans is F*cked up.. If you don't do 40mph with the trailer it jars your filling loose...

Moses would be fun as well. But it would probably stop a lot of people from coming.

I'd have no problem with just camping up at Naches and hanging out...

For the record, I don't KNOW that Walker is even an option yet. Would require permission from DNR to use group/gravel pit. Have a call into them.

Liberty if it stays open.
Walker.
Evans as a last resort.
Does anyone know anything about Cline Butte or Millican Valley? :brows:

I think Walker would be fun for a day trip, but not really a great place to camp.

I would vote for Walker because it's likely the only way I'm going to be able to attend at this point. But I agree with Jeremy, not the best camping.

Maybe it's my sweet suspension but I don't get into the pot holes until the very top of the road. I vote for Evans

{Rich, this is quite possibly your only shot at a Walker M&G, don't fawk up, don't fawk up, squirrel!}

I vote Walker if the DNR is agreeable. It all looks the same once the sun goes down and we fill it with RVs, Skagit 9's and beer anyways. The gravel pit is just a parking lot with a few obstacles on the perimeter, but it's wide open and has a nice panoramic view. Get out of your comfort zone and try something different. Ryno, JB, fawk-off sellouts with all due respect :) .

I can see almost my house from here. If the camping sucks, I'll just drive home.

Yes, AT&T and Verizon for sure. Not sure if this is a good thing.

Normally it is a bad thing, as part of camping to me is being away from the world. But with my wife being due at the end of the month, I might be able to show up if there was cell service.

Liberty is in the Cle Elum ranger district isn't it? Is that district going to be closed?

Just a thought.

As of tonight, I was told they have no plans to close the Cle Elum RD trails.
