Took the Jeep to the dunes for a relaxing trip to test a few things. Hit 82mph in 4hi on the flats and rollers. Drag raced a few other rigs and the Jeep is still scary fast. I think it has more in it so we'll see when I do for tuning in the future.
Trans temp was showing a steady creep up to 220-230 and has had me scratching my head. I moved the cooler to the driver's side fenderwell area up front and same issue. I had the sensor screwed into the pressure test port on the side of the 4l80e and realized the sensor is reading the case temperature not the fluid temp. Moving the sensor to the input on the cooler and may add one to the output later to monitor how well the cooler is working.
Winters Shifter never quite worked right. The ball joint on the arm didn't clear the pan and the gates didn't line up no matter how I adjusted it and confirmed with the instructions that I had done it correctly. I boiled it down to poor engineering of the angles and placement of the arm. In park, the arm points almost straight down, at about 7 o clock. When in 1st, it's pulled to the 3 o clock position. This is awful for shifting gears individually so I cut and clocked the shift arm. It runs through all the gates properly now and also clears the pan like it's supposed to.
Exhaust is heating up the passenger side floorboard and the 4l80e case. I'm going to try making a shield that bolts to the body or transmission but I have a feeling I'll need to fully ceramic coat the exhaust to bring the temps down. From research I've done this is about a 30% reduction in heat if I do the whole system and about $500. Ouch!
New 2.25 turn lock to lock steering is pretty awesome but I roached the PSC 1200x TC Pump for sure with the 5.5" pulley and 6000rpm passes. Have a CB pump on order and will be using a 6.5" or 7" pulley now. Steering feels good, just need to get a little bit more slack out of it. I think it's in the box and it's really hard to find boxes that aren't worn out! Might have to design something to take the place of the box and act more precise and feel similar to a rack and pinion. I used a Parts Mike beefy pitman arm and a bling bling EMF captured rod end for the high misalignment. High quality shit!
Still rocking the bluetooth gauges and they work well enough to keep using them for a while. Eventually want PRP seats, Switch Pros, and a TerminatorX with 7" dash. Currently looking at making the new rear frame on the bench and hopefully getting it on the June before the next trip in August-Sept.
Short video of a near full throttle drive by. Wish I had the 82mph runs but the girlfriend was too busy fearing for my life instead of filming
