Denny Creek is out for the year. Closed tenth of a mile past the highway at the bottom despite only an inch or two of snow and the top already has the house sized berm that they started building last year. Looks like Denny Creek snow wheeling is just a memory of the past at this point.

Tinkham has the gate at the upper pit open and rutted much higher. Otherwise the snow is heavy wet on top of unpackabke sugar, cannot break trail at all.

Official word is Denny is closed from the bottom, but you can go in/out from the top. We just need to start working on that berm. :)

Denny Creek at the top today. Pile so big and deep you would think they have been trucking it in.

At least they still put up no-parking so we can think about it! Even though everyone parks there anyways on a weekend.

The berm was that big last year too. We just made a "path" around it and came out just between the berm and the no parking arrow.

Looks like we've lost Tinkham too :( Both ends of the access have two road closure barricades up. The lower signs are pushed off the sides of the road and everyone just drives through anyways (isn't even snow on the ground), but probably not technically legal to be in there.

Discovering this surprised me because my understanding was Denny Creek forest road remains open while the county road portion is closed. But Tinkham is just NF-55 so I guess the forest service is taking away access too. At least there is some sort of convoluted logic that can be applied to actually justify the Denny Creek closure, but this one just seems ridiculous. As far as I know, it's not even legal for the forest service to close a road without at least some good justification.

This pretty much closes off the last of I-90 snow wheeling, nothing really left during the winter season until groomed roads open up in April.

Who's the best person to call to complain about unreasonable road closures on the I-90 corridor?

Alex Weinberg @ the FS is who I talked to back in December and he said Denny Creek is open...not sure who Brian McNeil is, but I do know that Tyler Smith is the FS LEO. I didn't ask about Tinkham, but assume they treat their FS roads the same in that area. Alex could clarify.

Hi Bryan, sorry for the late response. We do not have a closure at the top of the Denny Creek Road. Enter at your own risk. Keep in mind that if you enter from the top you will have to exit from the top since the county has closed the road from the Denny Creek Bridge to the barricades. Let me know if you have any questions.

Happy holidays.
