After we got everone back to camp, I took a walk around hammertown. We saw this crazy thing that they wouldn't let us get close to. I have no idea what it did.
Image

I'd wheel it.

Repairing the steering.
Image

Getting the naughty bits out of the ram.
Image

We filled all the steering lines with ATF to flush them out and then Nik showed us how to blow. He's pretty good. Unfortunately gents, he's married.

Naughty bits.
Image

Kurt raided the ice cream truck and brought home all the snickers ice cream bars they had. For having such a crappy day, we were in pretty good spirits.
Image

Enjoying our dessert in the desert.
Image

As far as we got. Bummer.

The guys from OTM / Team Yukon with the stop and chat. They were able to finish the race 9th place in the 4500 class! At KOH a finish is a win being in the top 10 is nothing short of a perfect day! Congrats guys!!!

Thus ends another epic week spent in the California desert. Being part of a race team like this is truly humbling. From last years high at finishing 12th in our class, to this year of not even making it to mile 12, it has it's moments. All the time, effort, and money put into this venture is so worth it. Being down at the hammers wheeling killer trails with phenomenal people is what makes life worth living. Having a dog in the fight in the worlds hardest off road race makes it that much better.

If you have never been to the hammers, beg, borrow, or steal to get down there.

Thanks to Anthony and Tiffany for enabling this. Tom Baker for the use of the shop to spend all of our weekends. Chad, Kurtis, Nikita, Rudi, Kurt. These folks that make this all happen absolutely kick ass.

Great times with great people. Remember kids, money is replaceable, good times are not.

Till next year.

This was my first KOH, and wow, what a first year to attend! History was made w/the father/son duo of Shannon/Wayland going 1-2 in BOTH UTV and 4400, in addition to it being Shannon's 3rd King title. It was a fantastic week, with a great outcome for our team. I took 200+ pics, here are some highlights...

What a fun year. Pretty busy at the Nitto camp this year but had a chance to get out and pre run with Corbett and Healy on Tuesday. Too bad the FPR crapped out and motor wouldn't run above 3k rpms.

Ya'll have seen most of the race photos so I figured I'd try and show you some of the more candid parts of KOH.

I drove out on Sunday with plans to be there before the SB started.

Shout outs!
Huge thanks to Rich Moore (Sideshow) for letting me get a few good nights of sleep in on the spare bed at your hotel. There's something about taking a shower after being on the lakebed that's a game-changer. #NoHomo
Thanks to Ian (SlackerXJ), Josh (70cj), and Aaron (Dr Drae) for helping me prep the meals. You guys helped me out more than you know.
Roger Peterson (Toyota or Nissan or Kia or something gay ghost), Bryan Peterson (Dirk), and Jason (comanchenotallowedarroundkids) you guys stepped up and did anything and everything that was asked or needed, regardless of the task. You guys truly rocked.
I know John and Jesse couldn't ask for a better crew than who was on the lakebed with them.
