The snowpack drives so great right now! You can go anywhere. The rain crust is fully supportive. Road was traveled to about 3000ft. Easily went to the pit. It's up to you to decide whether or not the buried gate might be closed, so kept going. Snow mostly crawled well but got tire deep at the end, did not take speed well. Probed the snowpack to a depth of 5-6 feet on the road surface. Don't think anybody has gone past the gate in a long time, there were no signs of any travel. Went to the Cedar River Watershed crossing and left (one more storm and you have plausible deniability as the sign gets buried and there's no sign of a gate, but seriously don't go in there).

The ice storm forest damage between 1500-2500ft is really remarkable. There are regions on the side of the highway where every single tree <6" diameter cracked in half. The lower Tinkham road is just a mess of branches but is passable.

There are snow berms on both end of the Tinkham road. The east higher entrance has a berm you drive over (I had to winch, high centered, but it'd be easy to make in anything higher than my low-rider JK). The west entrance has an unethical mud bypass around the berm.

For any I-90 plans, be aware that Denny Creek has been closed due to too many people playing at Franklin Falls and getting stuck (you can thank the Seattle Times for that one).

Thanks for the report. Sure would be a shame if those 'road closed' signs disappeared from Denny.

58 - Denny Creek

NOT CLEARED

Expect snow and ice. Road is not maintained during winter months and often becomes impassable. Use caution and come prepared for winter conditions. Road is closed off at 9040 road access and approximately 1.5 miles from Exit 47.

Surface:Paved

Looks like closed off at the 9040 road is a typo, 9041 is the road to Alpental where they berm the snow up at the top.
