I had a blast at W.E. Rock this weekend. My wife and I just went down for the day on Saturday. We got there about 9:30, watched courses A2 and A3 primarily. The unlimited guys are freaking awesome! We watched the guy in the Samurai (sorry, I don't know anyone) that John was spotting run C2 before we left about 2:00. I enjoyed listen to all the spotters yelling, "front only," "rear only," "dig," "4wd," "turn the rear driver," etc. :roflmao: Such cool rigs.

From there we drove down to Hood River, Oregon. Drank some beers at Big Horse Brew Pub and tasted some Whiskey at Hood River Distilary before heading home. Huge shout out to Big Horse Brew Pub for letting us bring our dog onto the patio. Super nice people, good food and pretty good beer. I recommend the Macstallion. Had a great trip. Next year, I definitely want to camp and hang out longer at the W.E. Rock.

We had a great time catching up with some old faces and meeting several new ones.
Lots of cool rigs and great weather camping in the dust!
Here is my son's attempt at putting a short video of the crawling up.

I wish I would have heard of this. Goldendale is so close.

Word on the street is Donner is going to replace goldendale :(
Unless BigRich decides to up the series to 4 comps and nationals.
With Xrocks and Supercrawl I don't really see him extending the series.

That doesn't surprise me. I guess a bunch of competitors didn't come because it was too far :smt022 . Crybabies. Everything is too far for us when you live up in the corner  .

On the other hand, Donner is awesome. The terrain and the views can't be beat.

At the event this year, he told me they were gunning for a TV series similar to what KOH/Ultra4 is doing right now....if that happened, they would run a full event at Goldendale. If the TV deal fell through, he said they would be back to Goldendale to at least run a sportsmans event for the local teams that show up every year.

Did things change since the event?

Agreed...I've gone down to spectate at Donner a couple of times. Awesome.

Distance isn't the problem, traveling is part of the game. The unlimited guys hate the comp site. There's really nothing super hard there for them. It's a lack of traction course, and the silty track conditions suck.

With the little ampunt of unlimited/promod cars that show up to goldendale, I don't see how financially it would be profitable enough for them to keep coming back. Only the sportsman's c class is bigger than other comp sites and our spectator crowd is small compared to as well. Financially Donner makes more sense, but I don't want to lose goldendale.. its my closest comp lol!!

Big talked to us and said he will be back for the comp in 2017. The locals (us) have always supported them.

Come hell or high water, I will be there next year. If the Rich family is going to make the trip for us, we should make the trip for them. Even if you just show up to spectate.

This event always reminds me of the grass roots of rock crawling. Sure you have the big money teams up there (only a handful this year), but when I started going before I built my jeep, I always aspired to do this. Now that I have the equipment for it, I sure as hell am going to go.

We talked about doing donner. We may make it down there next year to compete in sportsman C class.

Big Rich told me in Person at Expo a couple weeks ago that they'll always come to Goldendale.
