Met up with raggedoleman, Rbxj and Rs4race and went to Evans Creek. We went up 102 & 198, then we went down the 196 and up the 197 (on the 197 raggedoleman and I smacked our windshield frames). Next we went up the upper 520 and 519. Finished the day on the 311. All in all was a great day. I have a few pictures and a couple of videos that I took. I will add some more pictures that my passenger took when he gives them to me.

Was a great day to be in the PNW woods, again!

Even though I have been up at Evans a few times this year, this was the first time down 519 this year. The steps seemed a bit more washed out than I remembered. I liked it.

I am glad that you and your group had a good time.

Unfortunately, there are others don't share your idea of fun and want to change that specific part of the trail system.

Derrick Clark (Rednecks and Rugrats Jeep Club), Evans Creek land manager through the PNW4WDA has stated that for the bedrock section of the 519 trail at Evans Creek was the highest priority section needing work in the system. http://www.pnw4wda.org/Tri-Power/2015-(10)-Oct/2015-October-TriPower.html Go to page 12

I can't believe that there is a person in a place like this that believes that PAVING a trail is the right idea. I think the highest priority for Evans Creek ORV is to get it opened back up all year round not to take out an obsticle on a trail that already has a LEGAL bypass.

Derrick Clark- 360-761-2727 please give him a call or a text to let him know what a bad idea this is.

Not Good! I do not know why they have to "pave over" challenging sections of the trail system. It would be similar to saying double black diamond runs up at the ski slopes are too hard for the beginner so let's level the mountain so all can enjoy the runs. If the trail is too difficult, run tamer trails till you gain more confidence in your rig! If they "pave" the 519, that would suck!

Snagged the above photo off of FB. RS4race's backside is hanging up there pretty high!Image

I am thinking that the damage to the windshield frame and top won't buff out. On the plus side, at least the windshield didn't break!

Up the 197, fun.

The tree at his windshield is the on I hit mine on.

What Line do you prefer on the bedrock section of the 519? Raggedoleman prefers to hug the drivers edge. I prefer to just go straight over the edge.

That tree reaches out and grabs you doesn't it. I ripped my top on it last time I ran that trail. It is the best trail there though. When it is gooey you just gotta mash the pedal and bounce off of trees. LOL

The FS meeting is next week...TUE 11/10 @ 700pm.

See below for the meeting agenda...notice that the 519 will be discussed. Please attend and be prepared to politely share your thoughts on why they should not make any changes to that spot.

Quote:

Hello everyone.

First, I want inform you that Gary Larson, Trails Specialist on the district, passed away earlier this week. We don’t have many details on the cause of his death at this point or any information on services. Let me know if you would like to be kept in the loop on services.

We also have our bi-monthly rec. meeting coming up on Tuesday November 10th at 7pm.

Here is a preliminary agenda,

The past:
-Quick update

The future:
-SnoPark prep.
-Naches Trail closure (Nov. 15) and Evans Creek closure (December 15)
-Present potential dates for saw/equipment certification
-Evans Creek 519 discussion.
-Discuss plans for new Evans Creek map.
-Tread lightly grant opportunity for Evans Creek

Doesn’t seem to be much to discuss in terms of Equestrian side of things this time, unless I am missing something.

As always, let me know if you think something needs to be on the agenda and we’ll see if we can fit it in.

Sincerely,

M.J. Crandall

The FS meeting on TUE 11/10 @ 700pm is changing locations for this month...moving down the street to the actual FS office on HWY410. Address is below.

Quote:
Hello again,

DNR has asked us not to meet in their building this Tuesday due to some construction going on there and changes in the cleaning schedule. So, instead, we will meet at the same time in the public area of the Enumclaw FS office for this meeting only. Throw a camp chair in the car in case we run out of seats.

It will be fun! Almost like camping!

Future meetings will be changed to a different day of the week, TBD.

Looking forward to seeing you all again,

I just spoke to Derrick Clarke via phone. He said the plan is to install signs and leave the ledge alone.

Anyone else planning to attend the meeting?
