My daily driver TJ lost a motor a couple years back. I held out hope that a V8 would soon find it's way under the hood, but finally gave up and asked Auburn Car Repair & Offroad (ACRO) to get it back on the road. After a few weeks of easy commuting, I figured the TJ owed me money and decided the trails at Liberty would be a great place to collect :smt077:

It rained a ton. The trails were greasy. Armed with open differentials, I found the rev limiter on multiple hill climbs. Haters were hating and doubters were doubting, but low range, second gear and foot to the floor seemed to be the sweet spot. My celebration was cut short when I tried to crab walk an off camber section...with all the weight on the driver's side, both passenger tires on the uphill side just spun. I was also forced to pull cable on the last big hill and was quickly reminded how slow the TMAX winch was :bang:

Going downhill was very exciting and required timely application of the throttle to steer between trees. I ran out of talent on one particularly nasty section and kissed a tree hard with the front drivers tire...tweaked the fender & bent the front track bar :spend Other rigs weren't so lucky and required a tug backwards to get free.

I didn't take pics, but several videos are on facebook. Here's a nice CJ that was with us on the run.

Nice, I need to get back out there. I remember how slick it gets there, makes for some fun driving.

Cherokee, 4 mud tires, right hand glove box.
