I will be flying in right before that. Between missing the family and the Jeep being broken, I will not make it this year. But I will be planning on getting some good wheeling before the end of the year.

That's strange. I'm pretty sure I'll be camping at Long Meadow that weekend too. :dunno:

Anyone bringing kids?

Thinking about trying to finish the jeep and bringing my almost 5 year old boy with me.

Yes. They're supposed to post an update today (08.22.17) regarding the 410 closure East of Chinook Pass. They anticipated it could be back open this week, but watching. I'm heading over to that area via Pyramid this Friday, will ask around if I cross paths w/anyone of authority...

SR 410 Both Directions - SR 410 Chinook Pass remains closed during the day for removal of trees and snags to help limit fire growth. The closure is anticipated to last through the weekend. The EB closure remains just east of Chinook Pass summit at the viewpoint MP 69.4, the WB closure remains at Hells Crossing, MP 84. The highway will open for travel Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night between the hours of 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning. There is no stopping or access to camping in this area.

Might be worth a call to the ranger before heading out. I can see them closing the gates due to the location of the fire.

I was over there last weekend, 410 was closed but all of the camp grounds were open on the 1900 road. Just no campfires.

Forest service website is listing Long Meadow Campground as closed right now. :hmm:

That information has been confirmed incorrect. It was generically listed as closed strictly due to 410 being closed.

It is indeed open. The Wang and I and a few buddies hammock camped at Long Meadow on Friday, it was fairly busy actually. We even saw Scoot!

Pyramid Pass got some love this summer. It's in the best shape I've seen it. That huge crosswash on the Naches side is fixed, and there are FAR fewer pot holes. Totally a first for me, we saw two wild porcupines on the drive over Friday night... :eek2:

Your cooker is at paint now.

They need to finish painting it, wrap it up, put it on a pallet and ship it across the country.

There is a chance, but it doesn't look like I will be able to bring it down for an inaugural cook.

I'm not able to camp this year, but I'd love to haul ass over on Saturday and just do a day run. I don't know what everyones plans will be for runs, if I can tag along or worst case, I can just hang out and BS too.

As luck would have it I'll be in the area for Sombrerofest 2017 the latter portion of next week. Given the grueling nature of the traditionally fierce multi-skill competition Thursday, and Friday if my courage holds, a nice relaxing weekend with friends will be just the thing. In.

It's been almost 10 years since I've been to Long Meadow, isn't there a creek or something that runs one side of the campground? Temps are looking to be in the upper 90s to 100. Wouldn't mind a cool place to sit and relax at the end of the day.

Also, I'm tentatively planning on coming over on the wagon trail Friday. Plan is to be in Greenwater and heading up around noon, if anyone is interested in caravanning over.

Got an email from the forest service today about PCT. Not sure how this will effect the wagon trail.

If any body is planing on going over the wagon trail on Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning I would like to tag along. It's been too long since I've gone and would like to go with someone who is familiar with the trail. Let me know.
