How critical is the whole "street legal" thing. Rig has a license plate but no headlights or indicators in the front.

In years past you return on the forest service roads.

It's just because you run on FS roads, as David said. The people putting the event on don't care, but any ticket is on you. I'll be in a similar position as you, I'll be in a rig with a license plate and not much else.

The only places my club has ever been hassled is at Evans and Tillamook.

Evans was Mike in his tube thingy xj that was no where near street legal (had plates and insurance) the ranger let him go.

Tillamook was me with the kiddo in the back. Got a $110 ticket for "improperly secured child restraint" her car seat was bolted to my jeep, not seat belted in. The cop was way cool about it even agreeing with me that it was probably safer than factory. Considering the condition of my jeep, I got off lightly. We were on the paved state road coming from diamond mill to browns camp.

EDIT: Forgot about snow runs up on HWY 2 Tonga/beckler. We get hassled by that clown all the time. Now we just wave at him and keep on driving. He has NEVER waited for us at the bottom or caught up to us.

YMMV

Somebody PLEASE beat Mike on the RTI ramp at this event, I've been a 2nd or 3rd place each time. Have fun, make good choices. I'll be in Colorado
