Anyone going to Moab this spring/early summer, but not EJS?

I have no interest in running trails with groups of dozens of Jeeps, but would be down to run some harder trails with smaller groups. Also rock climbing and hiking if anyone does that stuff too.

Edit: This is happening week of May 16-20

You can put me down as interested in running some harder trails in Moab this early summer, pending funds.

I'm in. Always wanted to do MOAB, but have not yet had the opportunity.

Any particular weeks either of you are interested in going? I need to request time off soon. Thinking depart on a Friday and spend the full week there. Mid May or later is best for me. If nobody cares I propose May 16-20.

I plan to travel and camp alone (at least for the most part) but in on lots of group wheeling.

I'm on 35's and will basically run anything (with some bypasses) other than BFE/Helldorado.

I would love to go depending on what time your going.

My wife has a little person coming end of July. So... Can't leave during that.

Only a 6 hour drive for me, so I might be interested in coming out for a few days depending on when this happens. I'll bring beer

I might be, but doubt I could get the time off because of other trips around that time I'm taking.

I would recommend going in May, that is a good time of year to go. June is pretty hot. I used to live in Colorado and I would do moab trips in April-May and Sept-Oct.

Avi: I think your Rubi would do just fine. I have never been to Moab, so I can not attest to the terrain, but Rubicon's are good "out of the box" and driving smart will always get you further than 35's or other upgrades.

May 16-20 it is. I'm going to leave on Friday and get there sometime Saturday.

Avi, I don't know what your Rubicon is built to but even a stock Rubicon can do a lot in Moab. Regardless of stock or 35's, expect to hit on a lot of ledges, especially in a 4-door. I must have scraped a hundred ledges last year in my 2-door 35's 2.5" lift.

Alright that makes me feel better I'm new to 4wheeling. But fell in love with it real fast. Yeah my jeep isn't really built at all. It's sitting on 33s it's a 2 door jk. It's got aftermarket bumpers and rock sliders that's pretty much it

So We'll plan on arriving over the weekend and be ready to hit the trail Monday morning the 16th?

If you have any budget for pre-trip upgrades, the one thing I'd suggest is a full coverage steel skid that covers oil pan, transmission, and exhaust crossover. Mine got a real good beating last year (and an aluminum one was destroyed but kept me going, don't waste your money). And if you care your stock fuel tank skid will turn into a wrinkled mess if you don't upgrade it although stock works (I did lose about 1-2 gallons of capacity in Moab last year though as it smashes the tank in).

Correct... Or earlier if anyone gets there, I'll do an overnight run Saturday evening when I get there.

I really appreciate the advice. I think I found what you're talking about. It's $300 made of 3/16-inch steel. Hitting the trail Monday morning works for me.

Hello,

I'm new to this group as of today. I've wanted to join fellow Jeep enthusiasts for a while now and finally decided to move forward. I am very interested in joining the group heading to Moab in May 2016. I drove my 2001 Cherokee limited there from Vancouver, WA two years ago. Spent a few days in Arches, drove through Canyonlands, Capital Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion before heading home. Did it solo, but regretted spending more time in Moab. My rig is not set up currently to traverse more difficult routes, but had already planned a trip down there in May so would like to meet with you. I'll check the website for replies, but also feel free to contact me via email at : woodleysteve2@gmail.com

Thanks,

Steve

Sure, we can meet up and maybe do something... just be aware that we will for the most part be running more difficult trails not suitable for a stock Cherokee so I wouldn't plan a trip around wheeling with us.

I don't know what everyone's plans are, I'm going to be doing some hiking and stuff too, I wouldn't be able to motivate wheeling hard stuff 7 days in a row.

Unfortunate scheduling issues now lock me out of that particular week. :( I was so excited to knock this trip off my bucket list

Reminder this is coming up in three weeks. Who's in?

So far I just have Avi as coming (and meeting up with 01Cherokee) with possible interest from Arisythila, Tipped, Brewski, and Myke J.

I'm heading out on Friday. I assume I'll be alone since I haven't heard back from anyone, but if anyone ends up in Moab or is planning to be there send me a message, will get emails when I'm there too. Will be there all of next week assuming the carnage isn't catastrophic.
