I think it would be a great way to represent.

If I can find two Prius... ugh... Priuses parked next to each other I'll take the parking spot on top of them.

So lets keep this topic active.

Who all attended and what were your thoughts on WOHVA and the speakers?

I didn't even notice him! It's been a couple years though. Last time I saw Mike we were stranded alongside the road somewhere in Elbe, flagging down random people, and trying to say "jump start" in Chinese. :roflmao:

I thought it was a great turnout. Even more than last year. Shane, I appreciated the honesty when you talked before the BOD voting. A lot of us were nodding our heads

I took some notes on the high points during the meeting...even though in that pic it looks like I am asleep

Want me to post them up?

2015 WOHVA Annual Meeting Notes 11-15-15 (Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance)

New Board Members Elected
* 4 Open positions were filled. There was a lot of interest in serving on the board which is a good thing. Good cross section of people (all active users, one is the owner of South Sound/Bound Honda, one has a fair amount of experience with grant writing, one from the Yakima area, all are wheelers/dirt bikers) and Byron Stuck was elected to another term as President. Brandon (98CherokeeSport) was also selected for the Land Action committee chair.

Rally at the Capitol
*Scheduled for January 22nd, 2016. More info on this will be on WOHVA website.

Naches RD Update
*Good progress is being made with the new modified Trail Adoption and User Group specific management plans. There is some promising work going on between the FS and the user groups. Actual common sense stuff with less government red tape.

Legislative Update
*New HB #1480 allowing 1 time $187 trailer registration for trailers under 2000lbs which are used no more than once a week for recreation, for parades, special events, etc. This goes into effect in January of 2016. The registration is good for as long as the owner has the trailer. It will not transfer with an ownership change.
*House Bill that effects WATV licensing was cleaned up to allow the "Inspection" to be performed by other shops (Not Just ATV Dealers) and cleaned up the language involving the titling of WATV's. (side by sides).
*WOHVA shares a lobbyist with works together with WOHVA's Political Action Committee members.
*NOVA Funding issue was fixed. We will not see results of this funding for several more years but the potential is positive.

The Nature Conservancy (IMPORTANT)

***For those not aware, TNC purchased 48,000 acres of land from Plum Creek in December of 2014. This land is a checkerboard along the I-90 corridor, some in the Naches RD, and a large chunk on the east side of Lake Cle Elum which borders the DNR Owned "Teanaway Community Forest." The Cle Elum purchase includes what locals refer to as "The Ridge."
*TNC has over 1 million members and owns approximately 120 million acres around the world. They have a staff of 3,500 people, 1/3 of which are scientists. They have been active land owners in Washington for 60 years.
*They are a private company who focuses on forest preservation/management, clean water availability, animal species, etc.
*They do not support commercial or residential development on their land.
*They do sell land from time to time and plan on selectively thinning/logging this new land purchase. They also talked about controlled burns in the forests they manage.
*They have hired a Community Coordinator who has an office in Cle Elum. Her name is Lara Gricar 509-859-6990. She was well spoken and gave an informative presentation. She is pro-motorized in the fact that she rides dirt bikes and is local to the Cle Elum area.
*Recreation is not a normal business item for TNC so they have spent several months meeting with user groups affected by their new land acquisition.
*Their proposal to their Board of Directors will happen on 11-16-15. They shared with us what portions of the proposal will affect the motorized user groups. The board will vote on this proposal on 11-16 and the results of the vote will be on their website http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/re ... fgodGVIBLw.

The Motorized Portion of TNC's Proposal
*All trails currently open in their land purchase will remain open!
*All roads currently open in their land purchase will remain open!
*All dispersed camping areas available in their land purchase will remain open!
*Hunting and Fishing, same story.
*The trails & roads in the Cle Elum Ridge area (abutting the Teanaway Community Forest) were previously closed before the land purchase and will remain closed. 2 exceptions are the 4305 road and the 4305-118 road. The Sasse Mountain trail will remain open.
*They realize the "Ridge" area is a hot topic and are working with the planners and board of the Teanaway Community Forest to see what their final determination on motorized use will be. The presenters said their motorized policy for the "Ridge" will likely align with what the TCF people decide since the 2 land parcels are right next to each other and share roads, trails, etc.
*Users at the meeting voiced their desire about making a "legal" trail system in the "Ridge" area and legal roads that connect Roslyn, Cle Elum, Ronald, Teanaway, etc.
*They plan to sign contracts with current LEO agencies for enforcement on their land (no change there really).

WOHVA's Future
*Plan to recruit and include more commercial/business members in the industry.
*Possible Summer Meeting with campout and recreation.
*They have printed the first "Newsletter" which is currently being distributed to local clubs, dealerships, and powersports businesses.
*Online newsletter will continue.
*Social Media component has been successful and will continue as will local message board representatives.

I haven't seen any notes from our two club members that were there as well.

But thanks for the minutes above!
