Hey- Don't have one yet. We are planning on buying one later on but does anyone have a cb we can borrow for the M&G? Or a cheap one to buy?
Thanks,
D

Craigslist always has a bunch.

But honestly I think you'd be better off just spending the $100 tonight ordering stuff, and installing it when it comes next week before the M&G. It's a simple enough install, but something you'll only want to do once.

I myself picked up everything on amazon.
-Cobra CB (basic compact one)
-Firestick antenna with tune-able tip (still haven't tuned it though...)
-Firestick hood mount
-Firestick 9ft coax cable
-A disconnect to plug into my fuse box

I think it ran me just over $100.

~Scott

P.S. It was my very first mod to the Jeep, and it was a very good one IMO.

If no one has one to borrow we will probably buy a cobra handheld from Joes.

I hate to see you waste that kind of money on the hand held CB if you can get a in Jeep style one for $40 more...I guarantee you its not easy to drive/wheel with that in your hand.

Just My opinion.

Just my .02

With the frequency that those fiberglass antennas seem to break around here I would be hesitant to buy a firestick antenna, just get a cheaper one from Joes because you will replace it if you wheel. I am on my 3rd antenna just this summer.

Get a model that has everything in the handset. And Ryan I have a spring, but the tops seem to shear off.

I have one of the all in one radio's I'd be willing to part with for $65. Barely used, was installed in my Dads RV for a little while.

speaking from expierience... go to Wal-Mart buy a hand held cb, use it at the m&g then clean it up put it back in the package and return it with the excuse that you recieved it as a gift and you already have the same one. worked for me no ? asked and got my money back

those will work to at least be good enough to stay in contact with someone with a cb, so everyone can stay in contact. People do that quite often

If it comes down to walkies, I have a walky and a CB...so if you and I happen to be rolling next to one another, I don't mind having my passenger keep you in the loop.

Makes me wonder what you're doing to them. I went 7 plus years before breaking one. I'm not known to be a sissy wheeler. Look at my junk next weekend. :dunno:

I can't speak for Alex, but I go through quite a few as well. I'm on #2 just with the new rig (~7 months). I don't think it's the severity of the wheeling John, more like the frequency and type. What I mean is, you can beat one up driving on overgrown fire roads (brush, limbs, etc hitting it) a lot, yet run Maob or the 'Con and never touch it.

There's a lesson there; don't drive away while someone is holding onto your un-sprung CB antenna. :bang:

I don't know Matt. I carry a spare antenna and the only time I've used it was when someone else broke one.

Perhaps everyone needs to come see my junk and learn from it.

Ok. GI Joes and a few other places didn't have the CBs we were looking for. Anyone know of a local store that caters to that?
