OK since it came I will throw it out there:

Be Ready For The Cold And Rain!!!

It can get damn cold in the hills so please come prepared for it. Jackets, hats, gloves, extra blankets scarves, long underwear...whatever you think you will need. It's a lot easier to dress down then to put on something you don't have. I would suggest extra blankets for inside the tent as well.

The worst was like 3 years ago when it was well below freezing in the morning and never got above like 40*

Just remember, it gets COLD at night. Last year with a very heavy sleeping bag and my GF next to me it was still a bit chilly. And I was :drnk: and it didn't help.

Last year a brought along my thickest sleeping bag and I still ended up putting on all the clothes I had with me to stay warm in the tent. I still did not sleep too well.

Everyone camping up there with us should have a good cold weather sleeping bag and some good cold weather clothes. You want to be having a good time, not shivering as you hug the camp fire.

May I suggest the Magnum 44 sleeping bag from Cabela's? Room to stretch and good to -20*, there was nothing between me and my Magnum last year.

Yeah, that didn't make a very good first impression for the wife. I told her to pack as if we were going skiing (she didn't believe me)...

Just an FYI we wheeled up there yesterday and it wasn't what I would consider - warm. I actually wore my jacket all day, temps are only going to go lower at night...

That was the first time I've ever wheeled with my heater on full blast, and not my AC. Even then I was still wearing my jacket the whole time.

Then again, I only started wheeling like 2 months ago.

(Hell, I think that's the first time I've ever had the heater on full blast in that Jeep!)

I was on the trail all night till mourning last Saturday and yeah, cold is a good word for it.

Weather report currently has us getting some rain tomorrow and then it will get nicer all the way to the weekend. Should be dry and mid seventies during daylight hours for us.

A couple years ago I spent the first night in a tent in a 0* sleeping bag and froze my ass off, the second night in my XJ was much better. I through a tarp over it just in case the roof leaked (rain) maybe that helped keep some heat in :dunno:
