After visiting with Larry this weekend and learning that he had just ran the Rubicon a few weeks ago for a WFTW event I was thinking about getting it going up here again.
I went to the last event held at Tayhua the the Timber Tamers put on. It was fun but there wasnt too many vets there.

I would like to start to organize a event for next summer. It could be at Naches or Liberty. Both good wheeling and both lots of room to camp.

Before shooting off a email to the WFTW commitee I wanted to get all of your thoughts and ideas.

Being a disabled vet, it makes me feel pround that there is so much support out there, and I believe I can speak for all the vets on our board that they feel the same way.

I think starting to organize athe event a year in advance would give us enough time to gather sponsorers, do fundraisers, get donations, and just get the word out that we are trying to do something to show that we are proud of our vets. Doesnt matter if they are disabled or not. We are pround of all of our vets.

I understand that this will be sometimes difficult to handle with work, family and this, but I feel like this is something I need to do.

I miss the military very much and will do anything in my power to make our vets know how much they are appretiated.

Tell me your thoughts and if you think this will work or not. I think with as many people that are here on the board the word will get out quickly and we would have more than enough support.

In all seriousness though, I would be down with doing something to help out with this. Although I currently don't have any weekends off for an undetermined amount of time

I just got a message from the over all coordinator for WFTW.

Quote:
I will send you a "Host club packet" which is out of date but gives you an outline to some degree as to how we would like to see things done. Best id use what you`ve been taught and learned to make this an event that wounded warriors want to attend and tell their buddies about..
Strange I just got a request from a guy in Oregon too I guess the Pacific Northwest coming alive...
I will email to you later tonight at address you signed up with unless you want it somewhere else. Also if you want I can set up a Wa. are on our bb in possible events...let me know.

I have gotten the Ok from H to go ahead with this on this forum (thank you) so it has begun! I have been making notes and different things that have been done at other events that have been held, and have talked to other people that have held the WFTW events. Thanks for the support and I will keep you informed with what is going on.

Ian

If you would like I can bring this up in the next Timber Tamer meeting and see if we can offer any help as well.

Oh I am sure he is already on top of it. I would almost guarantee he brings it up next week with out me even saying anything.

Hi Guys/Gals:
I'm a first day newbie here on this site. Just got registered. I'm a combat disabled vet, but toughed it out to my 26 yr retirement anyway. I grew up in Auburn, GRCC, then on to the UW, then went active duty with the Washington Army National Guard, where I stayed till medical retirement time.
My XJ has been a part of me for 15 years, very mild 3" Old Man Emu suspension lift/Dick Cepek 31s/track loc for now/steel cowl induction hood, paid for but not installed yet. Stronger rear diff and lower gears are future plan.
Building a stroker 6 from parts I'm collecting/new Chevy valves and springs in home ported head. This will be my first and last engine rebuild.
I've researched my stroker build for over a year, and plan to assemble it at the Fort Lewis Auto Hobby Shop engine building room, so I have people to talk to as I go through the process. They have a machine shop there too, but probably will only use them for minor machining stuff if at all. Probably use Cope Brothers machine shop, or one that will turn up as I start asking around for the best machine shop for the build I'm planning. If I can find somewhere with torque plates for the I6 I'll go that route. Anyone with a reccomendation on a good machine shop, please be my guest and tell me about it.
Due to health reasons I don't get out much anymore, but any day I'm driving my Cherokee is a good day for me, unfortunately I haven't had one of those days for a couple a months now, but I'm hoping to get back out on those trails one day soon, and it's nice to see you have remembered us.
We gave till there was no more to give, then we gave some more. Any good American would have done the same. They do it every day.
God Bless the USA.

I used to work at one of those titty coffee stands right by the base. Had many military regulars and gained a lot of respect/appreciation for the military. I don't know if this is still a plan in action, but we'd love to help. Can probably talk a few of my former co-workers into coming down for an event as they still work with a lot of military guys. If there is still a plan in place for a wheelers for the wounded event, please fill the rest of us in. :)
