A rebuild on those generally aren't much more than 2k. I wouldn't put in a JY 4R100 trans without a rebuild personally.

I got a rough quote from Randy's Offroad of $4000. That could include a torque converter. Where would you take it to be rebuilt?

What is JY, part of the ID? We will be listing the truck for sale asap also, if that helps your opinion.

Junkyard, I'd probably check a local tranny shop.

While not an offer of a used transmission, I had mine gone through by Cottman Transmission in Vancouver, WA (360-601-0851). They did a very good job and hooked me up with a special converter they have built for them.

I love them! Melinda and Jason have the business back now, but when Kevin had it he sponsored my Ranger in short course. That is too far away now. :(

I know a guy that rebuilds trannys on the side in Puyallup....he rebuilt my brother's SuperDuty tranny after I cooked it on a trip to Rimrock. He's rebuilt a couple different trannys for us since then....my TH350 and a 4Runner tranny too. He removes, rebuilds & reinstalls. :dunno:
